Landlord/Tenant Issue--once more [Part 2]
EVICTION OR AGREEMENT?
Did I actually get evicted because of tobacco smoke? No. And technically, I wasn't evicted but made an agreement with my landlord to move out. However, the agreement was made with the real possibility of an eviction order being granted.--I was under duress, or whatever; and I was more or less evicted. [For the record, it wasn't clear what ruling might have been given but there was a good probability of an official eviction--a 50/50 chance, at least. The fact was I made an agreement; and the housing documents showed that it was what happened. My case also would have been less flexible in the future if I'd been legally evicted. There would have been less chance of an appeal, although I wasn't aware at the time.] *** When I was studying about law school a while ago, I heard that "contract law" was the most complicated area of law! And I've since seen that there can be many, many problems which come up even in what seem to be simple transactions!
