Chaos and Control
So, how about the "Get Smart" movies and TV shows??? I saw some of the original episodes when I was young but haven't really followed them since. [Can remember the "Maxwell Smart" character--kind of a goofy guy!?] Recently, have been able to read something on the Internet, as anyone can do. A regular, female character is "Agent 99," whose real name was never used--at least in the original TV series? The series was a parody of the "James Bond" shows. [Have seen James Bond when I was young, also, and haven't continued to follow the TV shows or films.] The fictional James Bond was a secret agent. In Get Smart, a secret American counter-intelligence agency was called CONTROL [at a fictional address, 123 Main Street]. Their enemy was an evil organization called KAOS. Isn't it true that new ideas and situations cause a certain amount of chaos and have to be balanced by "control"? Evil is evil but even good progress can cause upheaval and may need limits--like the industrial revolution, the age of technology, and things like genetic engineering!?--Just to give some examples. *** Have been doing some Internet research and it seems that in real life there's a difference between "offensive counterintelligence" and "defensive counterintelligence." There's a lot to study,if anyone wants to!--And am not planning to go through it all, myself! In Canada, we also have "security intelligence" and "law enforcement intelligence." But some of the police and security agencies can work together, at times. [Okay, whatever!] *** The original Get Smart television series ran from 1965-1969.
