A Fairy Tale or a Fable

Have written earlier in this blog that the special police project began long before 1998, and even before I knew about it....  Certain police and some of their associates had been told a false story that I was gay.  I don't really know why the story was so exciting for them but I believe the purpose was to get these people to work harder in the police project...they were gay, themselves....

Looking back now, I have to conclude that the false story was more like a fairy tale or a fable...!  Really.  I'm sorry for the disappointment for these people but there was no truth in the story at all.

Learning From The Past

There have been ministers and members in my church who supported me quietly in the police project, over the years.  It's just that there's been confusion over my "criminal" and mental health matters; and the project was supposed to be discreet, for the time being....

May have mentioned earlier that some black police officers and gay, black police officers in the project have made comparisons between gay rights and the freedom movement of blacks from slavery in the USA....  My church, Seventh-day Adventist, was formed shortly before and during the Civil War period in the USA.  A lot of people know the Civil War was the war over slavery--for it and against it.

According to historians and my own study, the founders of my church mainly took an anti-slavery position and they were vocal about it.  But after the war, one author wrote that things died down publicly because the church mistakenly believed that the matter was settled--slaves were free.  I believe I've read that some church leaders and members were still making various kinds of comments about slavery, and they didn't all agree with each other....  [And there were still many issues going on with discrimination.]

With gay rights and gay marriage, I believe my church can learn something from our experiences with blacks and slavery....  A professor named Jud Lake, at Southern Adventist University, has written a detailed book about our church and the Civil War.  ["A Nation in God's Hands:  Ellen White and the Civil War."--Ellen White was a special person and one of the founders of the church.]

Recently, a pastor from my local church wrote in his blog that a monthly magazine for pastors, "Ministry Magazine," which is an international publication of my church and is read also by pastors from other faiths, did an interview with the above book author.  I think it's great that ministers have been exposed to this information and I hope they'll share with all their churches about discrimination of all kinds....  Currently, there are campaigns going on for the police to be less racist in their work, for one thing....  [It may be hard if some blacks and others have been more guilty of criminal behaviour, due to their difficult backgrounds, in my opinion?]

Anyway, if and when the police project goes public, there may be some controversy and I believe the above book will be a help for my church in sorting out the issues....  And we can learn from mistakes in the past....  Also, I've done some of my own writing for the benefit of the church....

All Their Options

Yesterday, I was trying to be a little bit tactful when I said the divisional Mounties could resign....  [I didn't want to tell them what to do.]  Of course they have about three different options....

They can resign, or they can come up with a new and better story--like the one about Henry Thoreau--who is a respected person and writer, or they can let someone else take over while they watch from the sidelines...? 

The only thing is, I think these Mounties have had enough time already--except for a little more time to decide--and they shouldn't be allowed to delay much longer, in my opinion.  Delay shouldn't be acceptable.  I don't know who is above these police and could put pressure on them...besides God...and myself...???  I haven't usually had very much clout, either, and I'm not the best person at standing up for myself....  But I'll pray.... 

Have been reading Thoreau's book, "Walden," and Thoreau seems to be quite a character!  Anyway, if it's too much for the divisional Mounties to take up that story, I don't think we can blame them...?  Whatever they want to do...?  But they can take a reasonable time--a little longer--to decide; and then I think they should be done.... 

Correction

Have written a couple posts below that I thought some Mounties were discouraged....  But that may not be the case, after all?  It seems these Mounties and/or their friends have still been promoting the false, gay story about me...?  Have been writing about this in Waterlily Story II....

Right now, I'm not sure which is the best way to handle the situation?  The police don't usually talk to me directly; and they have different levels of authority....

If and when the Mounties at the divisional HQ that I've been writing about decide they don't have a good case, maybe the easiest thing for them would be just to resign from the special police project???  There are other police who could take over for them....  So, I recommend for these divisional Mounties to consider what they want to do...!?

American Students Know...

If some people read this Waterlily Story blog but choose not to read the second blog, I'll tell something else about what I wrote recently.  I first did a quick Google search of "Thoreau civil disobedience," but yesterday I took more time with it.  And I explained in Waterlily Story II that YouTube even has some nice but short videos on the topic....  Also, it seems that the Americans are taught about Thoreau in high school, as a general practise(?).  Am not sure that's the case with Canadians?  Myself, I certainly don't remember learning about Thoreau at my high school....

Right now, if the Canadian police need to understand more about the above topic, I recommend for them to do the same Google search that I did....  There are several, excellent entries that come up at the beginning....  [And I think it's no wonder the American screenwriters seem to be fairly familiar with this topic, which I also wrote something about in Waterlily Story II earlier....]  In my past dealings with the special police project, I've come across this topic sometimes but I don't think I really understood the significance of it until now...?

Some Discouraged Mounties...

Have been writing a lot more in my second Waterlily Story blog...and today I wrote about an RCMP division office where some gay officers used to be very involved in the secret police project....  For a while, it seems they've been embarrassed because things weren't going the way they expected, where I've been concerned; and they've been dragging their feet....  Many of the other police have wanted them to come on board--again--and to support the main effort....  I've also written about a past, American writer named Henry David Thoreau who wrote about "civil disobedience" in the face of wrongdoing by the government...and Thoreau had influenced a lot of people....  I believe he had an influence on the police project also, before they first got started, many years ago.... 

There was a psychologist I met once, who said, "If something is worth doing, it's worth doing poorly...!"  Too often we feel that if our efforts aren't perfect, we're failing and aren't worthwhile....  But this man said not to be discouraged, and to go forward even if things aren't 100%....  [But sometimes even our apparent mistakes, or misdeeds, can count for good....]
